We are picking two of the top trucks in the segment, the 2019 Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150, and comparing all that they have to offer to help you make the best choice. Before we get into the review we're going to quickly overview both trucks. The 2019 Ram 1500 is completely redesigned packed with technologically advanced features and a mild-hybrid eTorque system. The Ford F-150 enters the 2019 model year with some advancements and a few more features for the off-roading Raptor model. Check out the rest of our comparison review to find out which one of these models comes out on top.

2019 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

Two engines can power the 2019 Ram 1500. The standard engine, a Pentastar 3.6L V6, creates 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to the new eTorque mild-hybrid system. Utilizing a 48V battery pack and a motor generator, this system provides extra torque when needed and jump starts the ESS system. For more power, you can opt for the available 5.7L V8 which produces up to 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. This engine offers a bit more customization, allowing you to power the Ram 1500 with or without the eTorque system. Both engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and are outfitted with ESS. The Ram 1500 comes with RWD as standard but 4WD is available.

2019 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

There are a lot of engines available for the Ford F-150, making it hard to find the one that is right for you. The standard engine is a 3.3L V6 that creates 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque with the help of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Other engine options include a 2.7L twin-turbo V6, 3.0L turbodiesel V6, 3.5L twin-turbo V6, a 5.0L V8, and a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 (just for the Limited and Raptor trims). All of the available engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is no mild-hybrid tech found under the hood of the F-150 making it less favorable for the environment and your wallet!

2019 Ram 1500 Features & Design

You can choose between seven incredible Ram 1500 trim levels for the 2019 model year! The Tradesman sits at the bottom of the lineup but you would never know because it comes packed with standard features! Just some of those features include a Class III hitch receiver, trailer-sway control, automatic headlights, a 5-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, heated side mirrors, front and rear-seat USB ports, cruise control, a locking tailgate, 6-speaker sound system, keyless entry and ignition, and auxiliary jack. The higher trims build on this with larger touchscreens (8.4- and 12-inches), front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, additional USB ports, navigation, power release tailgate, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and fortified shocks and suspension.

2019 Ford F-150 Features & Design

The Ford F-150 is offered in a total of six trim levels for the 2019 model year. The entry-level XL is pretty sparse compared to the Ram 1500's. Its standard features include a 4.2-inch central display screen, trailer sway control, a rearview camera, four-speaker sound system, manual mirrors and windows, vinyl flooring, and pre-wired trailer connections. Pretty bare bones, if you ask us. The upper trims add on features like a power-adjustable driver's seat, a seven-speaker sound system, navigation, rear privacy glass, an 8-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, and LED headlights and foglights.

Conclusions

It's easy to see who the winner is here! The Ram 1500 blows the Ford F-150 out of the water!
