Jeep Off-Roading Safety Tips in Abilene

Off-roading can be an absolute blast. It’s a great way to adventure to places you wouldn’t normally be able to get to and take in breathe taking views you can’t see from any asphalt road. Before you even set out for your next off-roading adventure make sure you have these items packed away inside your Jeep. Make sure you’ve got your spare tire either hooked up on the back of your Jeep Wrangler or underneath your Jeep. You never know when you might run into a flat tire and you definitely don’t want to be stuck out in the woods with a flat and no spare. Now that you know you have your spare tire check and make sure you have everything you need to actually change a tire including a heavy-duty flashlight just in case it is dark when you run into a flat. A nice quality pair of mechanic gloves never hurt either when you’re changing a tire or trying to fix something on your Jeep. 

When you are off-roading you’re putting your vehicle through extreme conditions which is why it is always important to have a fire extinguisher on hand. We hope you never have to use it, but in the event of a fire you’ll be thankful you have it. Another item we hope you won’t have to use but definitely need to bring along is a first aid kit. If you’re planning on riding around with the top-off your Jeep you should apply plenty of sunscreen beforehand and toss some in the back so you can reapply later. When you go to throw sunscreen in your Jeep make sure you pack plenty of snacks and water so you can stay hydrated and nourished. 

Now that you’ve got everything you need to off-road safety it’s time to do a final check of your Jeep itself. Go ahead and pop the hood of your Jeep and make sure all your fluid levels are at the proper levels. That includes your oil, coolant, and windshield wiper fluid. Then due a quick once over to make sure there’s no leaks, spills, oil spots, or broken hoses. Once you’ve checked all of that head on over to your tires and make sure they are all inflated with the proper tire pressure.
