About Clyde TX
The city of Clyde is located in Callahan County, Texas. It was in 1876 that the first settlers arrived in Clyde. The first residence was a log cabin built by Mr. Shephard around the same time. Most believe that the city's name Clyde comes from one of the crew's foremen who worked for the Texas and Pacific Railway Company but the true origins are unknown to this day. The first postmaster, Jesse L. Miller, was appointed in the year 1881. Students who reside in the city are educated by the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District.
