2020 Ram 2500 vs 2020 Ford F-250

Heavy-duty pickup trucks can tackle anything you have on your to-do list from moving large amounts of cargo in their beds or behind them in a trailer to commuting across the county in comfort and style. There are quite a few heavy-duty pickup trucks on the market, and we know that can make it pretty difficult to find the one that best suits the needs of your lifestyle, whether it be personal or professional. That is why we have narrowed down the segment for you, to two of the most sought after models. To the left, we have the 2020 Ram 2500 and to the right, we have the 2020 Ford F-250. Keep reading as we break down what these models have to offer and help you decide which one is the best of the best!

2020 Ram 2500 Power & Handling

There are two engines offered for the Ram 2500 in the 2020 model year. The base engine, a 6.4-liter V8 produces up to 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. This engine is outfitted with cylinder deactivation to save fuel when full-power output is not necessary. Ram mates this engine to an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is offered for all trim levels except the Power Wagon where it is standard. The second engine is a Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel that produces 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a specially-developed 6-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Ford F-250 Power & Handling

Ford offers three engines for the F-250 in the 2020 model year. The base engine for this model is a 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Ford pairs this engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Up next, a new addition for the 2020 model year, is a 7.3-liter V8 that delivers 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The final engine offered is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 that generates 450 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. RWD is the standard configuration but 4WD is offered.

2020 Ram 2500 Features & Design

There are six Ram 2500 trim levels to choose from. The entry-level Tradesman trim is outfitted with standard features like a tilting steering wheel, 17-inch steel wheels, power windows and locks, a USB port, a 5-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, Bluetooth connectivity, and air conditioning. The upper trims expand on the Tradesmans features with additional USB ports, power-sliding rear windows, cloth upholstery, remote engine start, LED lighting, power-adjustable seating, smartphone integration, the RamBox cargo management system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and so much more! The Power Wagon trim level is outfitted for serious off-roading with features like an integration front winch, a manual transfer case, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and off-road shock absorbers.

2020 Ford F-250 Features & Design

There are also six Ford F-250 trim levels to choose from. The base XL trim comes with power windows, air conditioning, manual windows, and rearview camera, four-speaker sound system, locking tailgate, and vinyl upholstery. Overall, pretty bare. The upper trims add smartphone integration, a USB port, an 8-inch touchscreen, cloth upholstery, a power tailgate, leather upholstery, power-retractable side steps, adaptive cruise control, and power-adjustable/heated mirrors.

Conclusion:

Both of these heavy-duty trucks have a lot to offer and for a minute we thought the Ford F-250 was going to come out on top because of the third engine option but its trim levels are seriously lacking in features and that just won’t do. We can only recommend the 2020 Ram 2500! Not only are both engine options incredibly powerful, but the six trim levels also offer tons of features and there is even a dedicated trim for off-roading!
