Finding the right full-size pickup truck that meets all the needs of your busy professional and personal lives can be tough when there are so many models out there to sort through. That is exactly why we have created this comparison review! We are quickly narrowing down the full-size pickup truck segment to two of the most popular models and pitting them against each other to see just how they compare. This time, we have the 2020 Ram 1500 on the left and the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado on the right. Keep reading to find out which one of these trucks is the best one for you!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

Ram offers three outstanding engine options for the 1500. The base engine is a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 outfitted with mild-hybrid eTorque technology. What is eTorque technology? Using a motor-generator and 48V battery, this system adds torque when needed and boosts fuel efficiency! This V6 engine generates up to 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The second engine option is a 5.7-liter V8 that delivers 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Ram offers this engine both with and without the eTorque system. The final engine offered is a new addition to the lineup for the 2020 model year. This 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine pumps out 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are mated to RWD and an 8-speed automatic transmission. No matter the engine or trim level, 4WD is available.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Chevrolet offers way too many engine options for the Silverado. The base engine is a 4.3-liter V6 that creates 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. No mild-hybrid technology here. Other options include three variations of a 5.3-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel 6-cylinder. Almost every engine is matched to a different transmission and some of them are only offered for certain trim levels, making it very confusing and expensive to get the engine you really need.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

In the 2020 model year, Ram offers the 1500 in a total of 7 trim levels. The entry-level model, known as the Tradesman, comes outfitted with a host of standard features like a rearview camera, air conditioning, power locks and windows, Uconnect 3 infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen, and keyless entry. The upper trim levels gain larger wheels, fog lights, chrome exterior accessories, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a power-sliding rear window, a 12-way power driver’s seat, LED lighting, an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, smartphone integration, and a 7-inch digital driver cluster display. Other features found in the upper trims include heated and ventilated front seats, navigation, remote engine start, premium leather upholstery, ParkSense parking system, power running boards, an adjustable air suspension, and a wireless device charging pad.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

The Chevrolet Silverado is offered in eight trim levels for the 2020 model year. The base trim in this lineup is called the Work Truck. This model is outfitted with smartphone integration, 17-inch steel wheels, a tilting steering wheel, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The higher trim levels come outfitted with cruise control, front tow hooks, power-adjustable/heated mirrors, LED headlights, remote engine start, dual exhausts, leather upholstery, spray-on bedliner, side steps, front and rear parking sensors, and dual-zone climate control.

Conclusion:

It is clear after reviewing what both of these full-size pickup trucks have to offer, that the 2020 Ram 1500 is the one to pick! The Chevrolet Silverado may look better on paper, but the overwhelming amount of engines and an underwhelming amount of features just don’t make it a good choice. If you are ready to get yourself behind the wheel of a 2020 Ram 1500, come on down to Star CDJR of Abilene!
